At first it may seem way too early to host a job fair in December even if you're open year round but a job fair in December is specifically targeted to your college/high school applicants.

  1. find out when college/high school break begins and ends and set your date

  2. post ads in your target colleges, newspapers etc

  3. clearly communicate to your attendees the process of hiring and that this is an early opportunity to be hired based on your operating season

  4. encourage previous season employees to attend and even do some of the screening

  5. educate the applicants on your expectations and outline the hiring pipeline

  6. you may not want to 'hire' on the spot but suggest a wait or reservation list based on your prerequisites

  7. STAY IN CONTACT WITH YOUR APPLICANTS FROM THE DECEMBER JOB FAIR. TREAT THEM IN A SIMILAR FASHION TO CUSTOMERS THAT YOU ARE MARKETING TOO, PREPARING THEM FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON.

  • use this as a dry run for your main preseason job fair to iron out the process even if participation is lower than you hoped!

  • Any full time applicants are a welcome bonus
